Should I Style my Home with Greige this 2019?
Although grey and beige by themselves may
not seem like the most exciting colours to decorate your home with, when
combined, they can make a wonderfully light and airy space which allows certain
accent pieces of furniture, home accessories and other unique and individual
components in your home to stand out in your spaces.
Greige is a colour which has been
steadily increasing in popularity for a couple of years and is now a very
prominent colour combination in the world of home décor.
It is as a result of greige’s
perfect combination of warm and neutral tones which makes it the perfect colour
for painting walls with, as well as accessorising with too.
Becky Shea, an interior designer in the
paint world suggests that Greige is now the chamelelon of the paint world as ‘Unlike other colours that may cast pinker or bluer,
greige never sways further than a deeper grey or beige on the spectrum, so you
know exactly what you're working with.’
However, there are a few rules which
you should follow in order to achieve the best finish and final overall look
from your Greige colour scheme which will be listed below!

Firstly, check the lighting in your new Greige
space
Before you commit to anything, you must
firstly assess the light in the space which you are deciding to change into
your brand new greige space.
As a result of the combination colour
which greige is, the light in your room can affect how the colour looks in your
space- very much like many other colours too.
However, as a result of the typically
light and pastel tones in greige, different shading can make your greige look
either more grey or more beige in different areas.

The colour of your greige can also be affected quite largely by either the artificial or natural lighting in your home.
If your greige tone has warmer colours
within it, the artificial lighting can bring out more warm tones in your colour
scheme, however if it is natural light, it can sometimes make the greige look
colder than it is too.
This can also add pink tones, brown tones, grey tones
and even white tones to your greige colour scheme too.
Try to match your Greige shade to your flooring and
cabinets
If there are any individual pieces of
furniture, cabinets, tables, or even room accessories which you don’t want to
remove from your home, you may want to find a specific greige tone which will
match these already existing pieces of furniture.
This can be easily done by creating a
mood board in order to place together a variety of greige tones and see if they
work with your existing pieces in your space.
However, you also have the option of
‘upcyling’ your existing pieces of furniture too! You can use a grey, white or
grey colour and re-paint the furniture in order for them to work with your new
Greige colour scheme.

Choosing your perfect Greige Shade
Although many of the most popular
shades of greige can be lighter, the bolder and darker tones of greige can work
brilliantly in your home too!
Whether they are a feature wall with
the other walls being a lighter greige colour, or whether you are covering the
entire room in a darker greige shade, lighting can determine how the colours
will look in your spaces.
Although many individuals believe that
darker greige shades can make your spaces feel smaller and compact, if your
space receives quite a but of light, it can make the spaces seem large and
airy, even with a darker tone too.

Always sample, sample sample!
If you’ve decided on the perfect shade
of Greige for you, great! You can order straight away, however it is always
recommended to buy a couple of tester pots in order for you to gauge what
colour is best for your space!
As detailed above, different shades of
Greige can look very different depending on the lighting of the colour, as well
as the space it is occupied in.
This means that purchasing a few different Greige
shades will be the best way to determine whether it will work in your given
spaces!

Make sure that you test the pot on a
large space of your wall, preferably on different walls too, as testing the
colour on paper can make the colour of your paint look very different than it
looks on the wall!
Using a larger space to test your
Greige shade will also allow you to have an accurate visual representation of
what the greige colour will end up looking like on your walls.
We recommend at
least doing a 12 by 12 inch square on a couple of walls in your space.
We usually recommend testing at least
three different Greige shades in order to determine which will be the best for you-
that’s why we have a 3 for £10.99 offer on your tester pots- however, you can
always try more tester pots if you are unsure of the shade which you want in
your chosen space!

Give a couple of different accessories a good go!
The best thing about Greige is that it
is the perfect base colour for many different shades!
You perhaps would like to
accessorise with a darker shade of greige, or even choose a grey or beige which
you think will work with your painted walls, however you can also go bold with
a wide variety of different brighter and bolder colours too!
As it is a neutral shade, it gives a
great background to any accent colours which you are wanting to accessorise
with, such as pink, navy blue and even yellow (depending on the shade of greige
which you have chosen for your space!).
This particular colour also works
perfectly no matter what type of décor style you have!
Greige can work with a
minimal style- and is even often said to compliment a minimalist style- however
it can also work with a maximalist style too!
Greige is considered a very changeable
colour, so it is the perfect shade if you like to change your décor quite
frequently as you will not be fully restricted to a specific colour scheme, or
even very specific room accessories as a result of the colour of the walls.
Which Greige Shades can I choose from?
There are so many different shades of
Greige to choose from, it really depends on the space you are wanting to
decorate, as well as the amount of light that your space receives!

shades of Greige are below:
