With the winter being in full swing, redecorating your some for the season can be a wonderful way to combat those winter blues.
Grey is the perfect colour for you to redecorate your home this winter!
There is a wonderful relationship between winter and the colour grey. Now, it may seem like quite a bland, if even boring, colour, however it is what you pair the colour with that will determine whether your room looks chic and sophisticated, or whether it is blander and- let's face it- a more boring room too.
However, there are many easy ways I which you can test out your new grey theme without having to buy the products, only to start to understand that the colour is not the one that you wish to decorate your home with.
One of these ways is with a mood board as featured above. Our BLOG POST, ‘ Winter Wonderland Mood Boards: Blue' goes more into depth about the variety of ways in which you can create mood boards and why they are a very important component in interior decorating.
Our other BLOG POST ‘Designing a Mood Board’ also gives some amazing tips and tricks on how to create the perfect mood board to help you pick out your perfect wallpaper too.

What contrasting colour would go with a grey colour scheme in my room?
The obvious choice to answer this question would perhaps be some sort of blue colour as this is a very tame and great choice for many different rooms.
Blue and grey work very well together as long as the tones of the two different colours are very similar to each other in order to create a colour scheme which will blend and complement each other in a wonderfully subtle way.

However, although these two colours are a very popular choice for many different colour schemes for rooms, you may be after something a little bolder and ‘out there’ in order to really catch the eyes of your guests, or even just yourself and your family too!
Although it may seem too vibrant a colour to use with tempered greys and charcoals, yellow can be a wonderful addition to the room. Again, much like detailed above, the yellow must be of a similar tone to the grey of your choice in order to blend in with the rest of the colours correctly.
If you wish to use yellow with your grey scheme, it must be used sparingly- perhaps on a wallpaper as featured in the mood board above, or perhaps on the odd cushion or throw.
This is because you don’t want the colour to become the primary colour I the room, rather yellow should merely be an additional colour which will help the entire room to ‘pop’ with colour and vibrancy.
The below image reveals how yellow can be used to make a grey coloured room ‘pop’ with colour and vibrancy, if used sparingly.

Can grey be used for just my wallpaper without having to replace the other pieces of furniture in my room?
Perhaps you just want to spruce up your old walls with some new wallpaper, but don’t want to replace the furniture- or other room accessories- with other grey coloured pieces. This can be quite easily achieved with the correct choice of wallpaper.
Like the image featured directly below, you can use multiple pieces of colour and furniture in your room without losing the grey colour scheme- that's if the correct wallpaper is chosen.

I want a patterned wallpaper, but I also want a grey colour scheme- how can I combine the two?
As demonstrated in the image above, it is very easy to combine a patterned wallpaper with a grey colour scheme.
Although some wallpapers- like the ones featured above- have grey patterns and designs which almost only available in grey and charcoal colours, some wallpapers are created specifically to suit the grey colour scheme.
This is because it has become a very popular colour scheme in recent years and is also very easy to combine with a colour of your choice- as detailed above.
Grey wallpaper has increased in its popularity for years now, becoming a staple amongst many households!
